COURSE OBJECTIVES

The objective of this training is to equip engineers and technicians with advanced knowledge and practical skills in pipeline welding, inspection, and quality control within the oil and gas sector. It aims to enhance competence in applying modern welding processes, identifying defects using NDT methods, and interpreting international and local standards such as API, ASME, EWURA, and OSHA. The course also strengthens participants’ ability to develop and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) for safe and high-quality pipeline operations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate understanding of pipeline welding fundamentals, metallurgy, joint design, and heat treatment processes.
• Apply welding techniques including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and SAW in pipeline operations.
• Identify welding defects, analyze their causes, and apply appropriate prevention and repair methods.
• Apply Non-Destructive Testing (RT, UT, MT, PT) and destructive testing methods for quality assurance.
• Interpret and apply international and local standards (API 1104, ASME IX, ASME B31.3, EWURA, OSHA).
• Develop and implement Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
• Apply pipeline integrity management and preventive maintenance strategies in real industrial settings
