COURSE OBJECTIVES

To equip participants with the basic skills of R to manipulate, analyze, and visualize fisheries and aquaculture data

KEY TOPICS

• Introduction of R
• Data structure and data analysis
• Data cleaning and manipulation techniques
• Basics Fisheries and Aquaculture statistics in R
• Installation and introduction of QGIS
• Data types (vector and b raster
• Access of remote data sources; WMS and WFS
• Other sources e.g. SoAF satellite e-station

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

• Acquire basic skills and knowledge of using R
• Be proficient in data cleaning, manipulation and visualization
• Understand and apply relevant statistical techniques
• Acquire basic skills and knowledge on using QGIS
• Understand QGIS tools for mapping aquatic resources
• Import, modify and export data
• Have a general understanding of geospatial data and handling
