COURSE OBJECTIVES

The objective of the course is to enhance an understanding of the different monitoring and evaluation approaches, practices, and tools used in the energy, oil, and gas sectors.

KEY TOPICS

  • Module 1: An Overview of Monitoring and Evaluation Nature and characteristic features of energy, oil, and gas sectors; the relationships between monitoring and evaluation and their importance in the development of the sectors; M&E undertaking; establishing a logical framework and indicators for project design and evaluation.
  • Module 2: Conducting Baselines and Data Collection for M&E This module will cover why and how to establish the baselines for M&E. Participants will be exposed to quick & easy statistical tools & techniques of data collection including sampling methods, surveys, and assessment of the results
  • Module 3: Monitoring and Evaluation Approaches. The module will cover the applications of various M&E tools and techniques; analysis and communication practices of the M&E findings. Among other approaches; the emphasis will be on developing Logical Frameworks and Results-based framwork. Participants will also be introduced to the use of the Gant chart in preparing an evaluation time plan.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Upon successful completion of this training,participants will be able to develop an Framework and Perform monitoring and evaluation for the energy, Oil and gas projects or programmes.
